Santa will still be coming down your chimney on the 25th, your grandma will still be handing you a lovingly knitted scarf and your kids will still be waking you up at 4am eager to see if Rudolf ate the carrot left out for him. But this year, we’re not going to be putting a present under your tree.
Now Interact has decided to donate all of the money that we would have spent on presents to Save the Children.
Helping those who need it most
We’re doing this because we feel a responsibility to help some of the 700,000 refugees who have fled to Europe this year. This huge number includes 700 new children every single day.
Globally, 1 in 10 children are now growing up in a conflict zone. 1 in 5 Syrian kids have no option but to cross a conflict line in order to get to school. Since war broke out in Yemen in March, 573 children have been killed.
In this context, it just doesn’t feel right to hand out bottles of champagne this year. The work carried out by charities like Save The Children deserves to be supported and celebrated, particularly as refugee families face up to the harsh reality of winter.
Save the Children aren’t just doing fantastic work with refugees in Europe, they are also making a positive impact on millions of children’s lives in 120 countries around the world. If you would like to join us in donating to Save the Children, you can do so here.
